Criticism
DescriptionTypescript of an essay by Michael T. Griffith in which he presents three essays examining criticisms of the Book of Mormon. He first deals with claims regarding Alma's statement about Christ's birth "at Jerusalem." Then, in an essay entitled "Jerald and Sandra Tanner and the Book of Mormon" he refutes claims in a book by the Tanners regarding four points against the Book of Mormon. The next essay is entitled "The Itzas and the Nephites" and in it, Griffith lists 22 points of similarity between the Nephite Civilization described in the Book of Mormon with the Itza Civilization. The last essay is entitled "Joseph Smith and the American Indian Historians of the 19th Century: A response to Larry Jonas' "Mormon Claims Examined." In this essay, Griffith presents a refutation of a book by Larry Jonas, in which Jonas attempts to show how archeological research has not verified the Nephite record.
