Wool Army Green WWI Uniform Coat

DescriptionArmy green, World War I uniform coat. 5 bronze front-closure buttons (7/8" circm.), ending at waistline. Bound keyhole buttonholes. Embossed with eagle, shield, branch, arrows, sun, ribbon with "E Pluribus Unum". Mandarin collar with epaulets at shoulders and 5/8" embossed buttons (one each side) at neckline. Collar topstitched on outside and quilted on inside. Two hook and eye closures at collar. One metal insignia "US" on left collar. None on right collar, but button hole stitched in. Jacket front has princess fitting seam from neckline down through lower pockets. Jacket back has flat fell princess fitting seams from armscye through coat hem, allowing flaring out at waistline. Flat fell seam on sleeve from armscye down through sleeve hem. Side seams- flat fell. Four front patch pockets with flap closures and 5/8" bronze embossed button closures and bound keyhole buttonholes. Left sleeve has 3 patches: Lower: 2 chevrons made of coiled copper
upper-arm: one red felt reverse chevron
upper arm: 2 1/2" black felt square with 2"embroidered tan "O". Two rows topstitching 3" above sleeve hems. Sleeves lined with tan/brown tight-weave cotton. Coat lined with tan/brown cotton twill. Lining has same flat fell princess fitting seams at back and flat fell at side seams. Lining not attached at hem. Padding at armscye between wool outer-coat and lining. Chest pocket in lining at left front of coat.
